Yesterday Remy Ma hopped seemingly out of nowhere with her diss record over Nas’s “Ether” beat called “shEther”, a vicious barrage of verbal attacks aimed at fellow female rapper Nicki Minaj in response to her song with Gucci Mane “Make Love”. Remy’s response was lethal! Even Nicki Minaj fans even agree that the track deserves a response saying that Nicki will come back with something way better. While the verdict is still out on that statement, I want to discuss a couple of bars that Remy rapped on “shEther” that referenced Nicki Minaj’s most recent ex-boyfriend Meek Mill. In the first part of the diss record, she discloses information from an alleged conversation with Meek Mill in New Orleans at NBA All-Star Weekend where he talked about all the particulars about the intimate inner-workings of his relationship with Nicki.
“And I saw Meek at All-Star, he told me your ass dropped
He couldn’t f*ck you for three months because your ass dropped
Now I don’t think y’all understand how bad her ass got
The implants that she had put in her ass popped
I was like, ‘Damn, 90 days and you couldn’t have box?
Did she at least compensate? Start giving you mad top?
Her name Minaj, right? She ain’t throw you some bad thots?’
He said ‘Nah’, that’s when I knew you was really a trash bop”
Now, we don’t know this to be fact but it isn’t out the realm of possibility. Let’s not forget that Meek’s beef with Drake stemmed from a late night Twitter storm of him ranting about how he had Nicki on lock and how he thought that Drake’s line on R.I.C.O “The girl of your dreams to me is probably not a challenge” was about him and Nicki. Meek is irrational and emotionally unstable, traits that are unbecoming of a real man. So why wouldn’t he see Remy, a known enemy of Nicki, and tell her business? I mean, they did just break up and I’d assume that it wasn’t amicably.
We can take Meek out the equation and just be real: real men don’t gossip or pillow talk. We don’t allow our emotions to overrule our rational thinking skills. A woman isn’t a trophy to a real man, only a reflection of his game and his principles. If a man were to stoop as low as to tell his woman’s business, especially to her advisory, he’s gone against anything even resembling ethics. Intimate relationships should be just that, intimate. Once we all grow out of our immaturity, maybe we can cultivate healthier relationships.
